I love embossing, ages ago I used to spend HOURS dry embossing with a stylus, some wax paper and a template/stencil of some sort. I loved doing "rubbings" of textures when I was a kid in art. Last year, after a long period of search & much REsearch, I finally got a BigShot from Sizzix. ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES I've ever made for my crafting. Even though I enjoyed the "meditativeness" of doing the embossing by hand, I just can't beat cranking out great looking stuff in seconds!
I am a very tactile person. I was the kid who would go up to someone just to feel the fabric of their skirt or blouse, so I could put a "feel" with what my eyes were telling me (sometimes without asking!) I think I freaked out my Mom doing this more than a few times....just couldn't help myself! (LOL) **I must confess I sometimes even now have a hard time fighting this urge**
Anyways, recently I started inking the embossing & am really enjoying the pop of dimension it gives my projects. On this card I used this technique in two areas, the kraft (grocery bag) paper and the gold cardstock.
The background paper I use for most of my card pics is a heavily embossed paper I picked up from the local JoAnn's Store. Go here if you want to see my ULTRA CHEAP PHOTO SET UP.

ReplyDeleteSuch a Sweet, Cheerful Card! Love the embossing too! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Stamps R Us! 8-)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, this is a gorgeous card! I haven't had too much success in inking before I emboss, but I may give it a go again. I like embossing also. I'm always on the lookout for embossing folders to be on sale. I presently have a Cuttlebug, but it's getting a little hard to emboss smoothly with, and my hubby wants me to get a Big Shot also. Isn't he the sweetest thing? Hugs, dj
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for the love!!
ReplyDelete@Debbie- I don't ink before I emboss, I just run a stamp pad over it after I emboss. Congrats on hubby wanting to get you a BigShot! My hubby is indifferent, but tolerant of my hobbies...
